Scientific journal “Scientific Herald of Sivershchyna. Series: Law” was founded in 2017 at the Academy of the State Penitentiary Service.

Certificate of state registration in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine: Series KB, № 22779-12669Р.

The journal specializes in the field of science: Law

Sphere of distribution: national, foreign.

Category of readers: scientific, scientific and pedagogical workers, post-graduate students (adjuncts), doctoral students, practical workers, students.

Languages of publication: mixed languages: Ukrainian, Russian, English, Polish, German.

Frequency of publishing: three times a year

  • Issue 1 – Articles are accepted for consideration by the 20th of February.
  • Issue 2 – Articles are accepted for consideration by the 20th of June.
  • Issue 3 – Articles are accepted for consideration by the 20th of October.

Scientific journal is placed on the platform “Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine” in V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Full texts and summaries to each article according to the contents of the issues are published on the web-site of the scientific journal “Scientific Herald of Sivershchyna. Series: Law” of Academy of the State Penitentiary Service.

The policy of the scientific publication is to provide scientific and informational needs of the society in the latest achievements on the topical problems of Law that are reflected in the papers of domestic and foreign scholars. This fact determines accepting for publication the articles that contain scientific novelty, have theoretical value and practically contribute to highlighting the problems of the Theory and History of State and Law, branch Legal and related Sciences.

All the authors have equal rights for publishing their scientific papers, regardless of their position, place of employment, academic degree, academic rank, age, gender, nationality, religious and political views, while reviewing the submitted papers by the Editorial Board.

Scientific journal “Scientific Herald of Sivershchyna. Series: Law” is an open-access publication, the policy of which is based on the principles of free distribution of scientific information and its broad exchange; objectivity and impartiality in choosing articles for publishing; high demands on the quality of scientific researches; compulsory reviewing of the articles; collegiality in making decisions; availability and efficiency in communicating with the authors; strict adherence to copyright and related rights; strict adherence to the schedule of the journal publishing.

The authors of the articles must adhere to the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the scientific professional editions of Ukraine, as well as to the requirements placed on the website of the periodical concerning the design and content, academic integrity and the absence of plagiarism and violation of scientific ethics, payment for the paper in accordance with the calculation of its value.

The Editorial Board of the scientific journal “Scientific Herald of Sivershchyna. Series: Law” acts purposefully in order to include the periodical into international electronic libraries, catalogs and science-based databases for the purpose of joining the world scientific information space, raising the rating of the periodical and the scientific metrics of its authors.

In order to adhere to ethical norms, in relation to scientific papers, there is an obligatory reviewing of all the articles published in the scientific journal “Scientific Herald of Sivershchyna. Series: Law”.

Scientific articles, submitted to the Editorial Board of the scientific journal that meet the formal criteria, are considered at a session of the Editorial Board in order to decide whether their topics are relevant to the research focus of the scientific journal and the reviewers are chosen. Reviewing of the papers which topics are relevant to the research focus of the scientific journal is completely anonymous both for the author and the reviewer. The procedure is carried out by two independent reviewers (blind peer review policy).

The review can involve the members of the Editorial Board and external experts determining the vector of the development of scientific thought and having papers in corresponding subject areas.

The reviewer evaluates: the completeness and reasonableness of the disclosure of the urgency of the article; the substantiation of the connection of the problem posed in the article with important scientific or practical tasks; completeness of the analysis of actual researches and publications on a common problem; correspondence of the purpose of the article to the problem considered by the author; substantiation of the received scientific results; scientific conclusions and their correspondence to the purpose and objectives of the article; prospects for further research in this direction; terminological integrity of the article; the author’s knowing of scientific literature on the discussed problems, including international experience; peculiarities of the author’s style and language (clarity of language and style, the need for additional scientific and literary editing, etc.).

The review must contain specific conclusions about the expediency of the paper, indicating the main drawbacks of the article (if any), as well as the conclusion about the possibility of publishing: “recommended”, “recommended taking into account the correction of mentioned drawbacks” or “not recommended”.

The review is made in printed form, must be signed by the reviewer and certified with the seal of the institution at the reviewer’s place of work.

In case of rejection, the Editorial Board sends the author a motivated refusal.

The existence of a positive review is not a sufficient reason for publishing the article. The final decision on the expediency of publishing is taken by the Editorial Board of a particular periodical.

The Editorial Board invites the materials of original scientific, practical and also educational and methodological researches that have never been published before. The authors are responsible for the faithfulness of the submitted information. The author receives no fee for published paper. Editorial Board has the right to categorize, review, shorten and reject the articles. The submitted materials are not returned.

Reprint of the materials published in the journal is forbidden. In case of their use the link is obligatory.

The article must be typed in the text editor Microsoft Word in the doc, docx format. Margins everywhere are 20 mm. Type is Times New Roman 14 pt. in 1.5 space. Paragraph indention is 1,25 cm. Pages are not numbered. Paper must consist of 10 – 12 pages.

The article is submitted in Ukrainian, Russian, English, Polish, German, and must contain the following structural elements:

– UDC (in the upper left corner of the sheet);

– Author’s Surname and Initials (in the upper right corner of the sheet);

– academic degree, academic title, honorary title, position and full name of the author’s place of work (study), city, country (in the upper right corner of the sheet);

– blank line;

– the title of the article – in capital letters (in the center);

– blank line;

– a summary and key words in Ukrainian and in the language of the article (in case when the article is in Russian, Polish or German) (500 symbols);

– formulating of the problem in general, urgency of the research and its connection with important scientific or practical tasks (“Target setting”);

– analyzing of the latest scientific researches and publications in which the solution of this problem was started up and which the author uses, defining of earlier uninvestigated parts of general problem, which this article is devoted to (“Actual scientific researches and publications analysis”);

– formulating of the goals of the article (“Purpose setting”);

– presenting of basic material of the research with a complete reasoning of obtained scientific results (“The statement of basic materials”);

– making conclusions concerning this study and prospects for further researches in this direction (“Conclusions”);

– blank line;

– “References” (in the center) is given in the order of their mentioning in the text of the article. The bibliographic list of the papers is submitted in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015. The reference to the source is made directly in the text. The square brackets indicate the serial number of the source used, and a specific page is mentioned through a comma (for example: [5, pp. 74]; [15, sheet 18]).

– a summary and keywords in English (1800-2000 symbols). The summary must contain: author’s surname, initials and the title of the article.

1) electronic version of the article;

2) if the author has no scientific degree he/she must provide a scanned review from a Doctor of Sciences or a Ph.D. on a submitted article;

3) information about the author (authors) – as in the example;

4) аn article submitted to the Editorial Board without adhering to the requirements is not reviewed and published.
